Integrate univalue into our buildsystem This addresses issues like the one in #12467, where some of our compiler flags end up being dropped during the subconfigure of Univalue. Specifically, we're still using the compiler-default c++ version rather than forcing c++17. We can drop the need subconfigure completely in favor of a tighter build integration, where the sources are listed separately from the build recipes, so that they may be included directly by upstream projects. This is similar to the way leveldb build integration works in Core. Core benefits of this approach include: - Better caching (for ex. ccache and autoconf) - No need for a slow subconfigure - Faster autoconf - No more missing compile flags - Compile only the objects needed There are no benefits to Univalue itself that I can think of. These changes should be a no-op there, and to downstreams as well until they take advantage of the new sources.mk. This also removes the option to use an external univalue to avoid similar ABI issues with mystery binaries. Co-authored-by: fanquake <fanquake@gmail.com>

Simple benchmarking framework Benchmarking framework, loosely based on google's micro-benchmarking library (https://github.com/google/benchmark) Wny not use the Google Benchmark framework? Because adding Even More Dependencies isn't worth it. If we get a dozen or three benchmarks and need nanosecond-accurate timings of threaded code then switching to the full-blown Google Benchmark library should be considered. The benchmark framework is hard-coded to run each benchmark for one wall-clock second, and then spits out .csv-format timing information to stdout. It is left as an exercise for later (or maybe never) to add command-line arguments to specify which benchmark(s) to run, how long to run them for, how to format results, etc etc etc. Again, see the Google Benchmark framework for where that might end up. See src/bench/MilliSleep.cpp for a sanity-test benchmark that just benchmarks 'sleep 100 milliseconds.' Move external signer out of wallet module This commit moves the ExternalSigner class and RPC methods out of the wallet module. The enumeratesigners RPC can be used without a wallet since #21417. With additional modifications external signers could be used without a wallet in general, e.g. via signrawtransaction. The signerdisplayaddress RPC is ranamed to walletdisplayaddress because it requires wallet context. A future displayaddress RPC call without wallet context could take a descriptor argument. This commit fixes a rpc_help.py failure when configured with --disable-wallet.

The current approach of locking objects where they happen to be on the stack or heap in-place causes a lot of mlock/munlock system call overhead, slowing down any handling of keys. Deduplicate the message verifying code The logic of verifying a message was duplicated in 2 places: src/qt/signverifymessagedialog.cpp SignVerifyMessageDialog::on_verifyMessageButton_VM_clicked() src/rpc/misc.cpp verifymessage() with the only difference being the result handling. Move the logic into a dedicated src/util/message.cpp MessageVerify() which returns a set of result codes, call it from the 2 places and just handle the results differently in the callers.

This commit moves wallet classes and methods that deal with transactions out of wallet.cpp/.h into better organized files: - transaction.cpp/.h - CWalletTx and CMerkleTx class definitions - receive.cpp/.h - functions checking received transactions and computing balances - spend.cpp/.h - functions creating transactions and finding spendable coins After #20773, when loading is separated from syncing it will also be possible to move more wallet.cpp/.h functions to: - sync.cpp/.h - functions handling chain notifications and rescanning This commit arranges receive.cpp and spend.cpp functions in dependency order so it's possible to skim receive.cpp and get an idea of how computing balances works, and skim spend.cpp and get an idea of how transactions are created, without having to jump all over wallet.cpp where functions are not in order and there is a lot of unrelated code. Followup commit "refactor: Detach wallet transaction methods" in https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/21206 follows up this PR and tweaks function names and arguments to reflect new locations. The two commits are split into separate PRs because this commit is more work to maintain and less work to review, while the other commit is less work to maintain and more work to review, so hopefully this commit can be merged earlier.

The current approach of locking objects where they happen to be on the stack or heap in-place causes a lot of mlock/munlock system call overhead, slowing down any handling of keys. Also locked memory is a limited resource on many operating systems (and using a lot of it bogs down the system), so the previous approach of locking every page that may contain any key information (but also other information) is wasteful.

This adds a new --enable-multiprocess flag, and build configuration code to detect libraries needed for multiprocess support. The --enable-multiprocess flag builds new bitcoin-node and bitcoin-gui executables, which are updated in https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/10102 to communicate across processes. But for now they are functionally equivalent to existing bitcoind and bitcoin-qt executables.

If autogen.sh was not manually run after touching configure.ac, bitcoin-config.h would not be properly regenerated. This causes very subtle problems when configure appears to enable a new value, but it does not end up reflected in the build.

Simple benchmarking framework Benchmarking framework, loosely based on google's micro-benchmarking library (https://github.com/google/benchmark) Wny not use the Google Benchmark framework? Because adding Even More Dependencies isn't worth it. If we get a dozen or three benchmarks and need nanosecond-accurate timings of threaded code then switching to the full-blown Google Benchmark library should be considered. The benchmark framework is hard-coded to run each benchmark for one wall-clock second, and then spits out .csv-format timing information to stdout. It is left as an exercise for later (or maybe never) to add command-line arguments to specify which benchmark(s) to run, how long to run them for, how to format results, etc etc etc. Again, see the Google Benchmark framework for where that might end up. See src/bench/MilliSleep.cpp for a sanity-test benchmark that just benchmarks 'sleep 100 milliseconds.' Integrate univalue into our buildsystem This addresses issues like the one in #12467, where some of our compiler flags end up being dropped during the subconfigure of Univalue. Specifically, we're still using the compiler-default c++ version rather than forcing c++17. We can drop the need subconfigure completely in favor of a tighter build integration, where the sources are listed separately from the build recipes, so that they may be included directly by upstream projects. This is similar to the way leveldb build integration works in Core. Core benefits of this approach include: - Better caching (for ex. ccache and autoconf) - No need for a slow subconfigure - Faster autoconf - No more missing compile flags - Compile only the objects needed There are no benefits to Univalue itself that I can think of. These changes should be a no-op there, and to downstreams as well until they take advantage of the new sources.mk.
