7025942687 build: drop superfluous HAVE_BUILD_INFO define
bitcoin-build-info.h should always be generated before clientversion.cpp
is compiled due to the following explicit dependency in src/CMakeLists.txt:

add_dependencies(bitcoin_clientversion generate_build_info)

Hence there is no need to gate the inclusion of that header with an
extra define.

0dd662510c build: drop obj/ subdir for generated build.h, rename to bitcoin-build-info.h
Now that this file is not in a subfolder anymore, prefix it with
"bitcoin-" to avoid potential collisions. Also add "info" for a more
descriptive name.

4f74c59334 util: Move util/string.h functions to util namespace
There are no changes to behavior. Changes in this commit are all additions, and
are easiest to review using "git diff -U0 --word-diff-regex=." options.

Motivation for this change is to keep util functions with really generic names
like "Split" and "Join" out of the global namespace so it is easier to see
where these functions are defined, and so they don't interfere with function
overloading, especially since the util library is a dependency of the kernel
library and intended to be used with external code.

The first command creates a regular expression for matching all bitcoin-config.h symbols in the following form: ^(?!//).*(AC_APPLE_UNIVERSAL_BUILD|BOOST_PROCESS_USE_STD_FS|...|_LARGE_FILES). It was generated with:
./autogen.sh && printf '^(?!//).*(%s)' $(awk '/^#undef/ {print $2}' src/config/bitcoin-config.h.in | paste -sd "|" -)

The second command holds a list of files and directories that should not be processed. These include subtree directories as well as some crypto files that already get their symbols through the makefile.

The third command checks for missing bitcoin-config headers in .cpp files and adds the header if it is missing.

The fourth command checks for missing bitcoin-config headers in .h files and adds the header if it is missing.

The fifth command checks for unneeded bitcoin-config headers in sources files and removes the header if it is unneeded.

5100deee58 clientversion: No suffix #if CLIENT_VERSION_IS_RELEASE
Previously, building from a release source tarball would result in a
version string like v22.0.0-<commithash>, but we expect just v22.0.0.
This commit solves this problem.

Also use PACKAGE_VERSION instead of reconstructing it.

8f7b930475 Drop the leading 0 from the version number
Removes the leading 0 from the version number. The minor version, which
we had been using as the major version, is now the major version. The
revision, which we had been using as the minor version, is now the minor
version. The revision number is dropped. The build number is promoted to
being part of the version number. This also avoids issues where it was
accidentally not included in the version number.

The CLIENT_VERSION remains the same format as previous as previously,
the Major version was 0 so that was never a factor in CLIENT_VERSION.

Merge #11966: clientversion: Use full commit hash for commit-based version descriptions
a71c56a clientversion: Use full commit hash for commit-based version descriptions (Luke Dashjr)

Pull request description:

git keeps changing the number of digits in abbreviated hashes, resulting in the GitHub archive hash changing because we include it here.
To workaround this and avoid hashes that become increasingly ambiguous later on, just include the full commit hash when building from git.
This has no effect on tagged releases.

(Cleanly mergable back to 0.10 without backport)
